Hi, my son (11) has cøliaki (diagnosed at the age of 3). He has very strong reactions to any gluten, which he accidentally ate a few times since diagnosis - he throws up not long after eating (he did that often before diagnosis). I have found information that it is ok for people with cøliaki to eat products marked as "may contain traces of gluten" as usually they do not get a reaction. My question is - does it mean that if a person with cøliaki does not get a "visible" reaction, it is all ok from a medical point of view (the intestine does not get damaged)? The other question is about check ups with GP (fastlege) - when our son was diagnosed, we were told he should come in from time to time for a blood test to check that he "is gluten-free", however, when I recently followed this up with our new doctor, she said such things are not done and there is nothing they can check. What is the correct procedure?
