Coeliac Disease: What you need to know
The Cancer Survivor's Companion: Practical ways to cope with your feelings after cancer".
"Coeliac Disease: What you need to know" ble nominert sammen med bøker innen psykologi, kreft, prøverørsbefruktning og demens.
Forfatteren forteller følgende om boken:
- I wrote the book as a positive, informative guide to bring the reader up-to-date in key facts and developments about coeliac disease, including new labeling standards, recent research findings, and also the new therapies in development - such as vaccines, drugs and enzymes. I dedicated a chapter to the emotional and psychological side of coeliac disease, because so many newly diagnosed coeliacs struggle with this side of things, and it is hardly ever addressed. I hope anyone reading the book finds this particularly useful.
I would hope that in reading the book, all coeliacs would learn a lot of new facts about their condition, and that this helps them manage their diet and lifestyle. I'd also like people to read the book and become as informed as possible about the condition, for instance, about the medical side of it, which can be complicated, in order that they can spread awareness themselves in an accurate way. They may not always be aware of it, but coeliacs play a key role in teaching others about the disease, and I hope the book equips them well in this regard.
From a personal perspective, I'm keen for as many coeliacs (and their carers) to read the book and tell me what they liked and didn't like, and what kind of information they need, so that I can adjust future editions of the book, and provide the best book possible to the coeliac community.
Boken er på engelsk og er publisert av Sheldon Press. Boken er tilgjengelig på Amazon eller via bokhandlere. Boken vil også bli tilgjengelig som e-bok på Kindle i løpet av våren.
